Yahya Sinwar, New Leader of Hamas to Replace Ismail Haniyeh

Yahya Sinwar was officially appointed as leader of the Hamas political bureau on Tuesday (6/8).

Sinwar will replace Ismail Haniyeh who was killed in a bomb attack in Iran.

Sinwar is known as a top Hamas official who controls the Gaza Strip.

Israel also accused Sinwar of being one of the masterminds of the attack on October 7, 2023.

This accusation also made Sinwar one of Israel's most wanted Hamas members after Haniyeh.

Sinwar's appointment was also said to be a message to Israel that Hamas will continue its resistance movement in Gaza.
